In this course we will be starting right at the beginning and a good foundation for the basics. We will explore the different papers and types of watercolour paints which can make or break a painting. We will also learn about the types of brushes and which ones you really need. This class will be about learning and practicing different techniques using watercolour paints as well as making unique textures from materials that will surprise you. Everyone will get a starter kit they will keep after the class is finished so everyone will be on the same page to begin with. If you like this class there is another class “THE NEXT STEP” following this class.

Symbolizing Orange Shirt Day and the Every Child Matters movement together with a handmade pin.
Involves a felt base cut into a shirt shape, covered with orange beads using flat stitch. This workshop offers a chance to learn Indigenous beadwork, reflect on the history of residential schools and express solidarity with Indigenous communities.
On how the workshop will run.
1. Prepare the base: Attach a shirt template to a piece of felt, which serves as the base for the beadwork.
2. Bead the shirt: Using a needle and thread, attach orange and black beads to the template, following a pattern to create the shirt.
3. Sew the pin onto a backing - like leather or pleather.
4. Attach a pin backing onto the leather once the beading and sewing is complete.
